POWER, PARTICIPATION AND REPRESENTATION: SECOND CWC INTERNATIONAL MEETING

Catholic Women’s Council is pleased to invite you to its 2nd global Listening Session on 09th April 2022.

The meeting will be organised by different European groups from Austria, France, Germany and Switzerland and will focus on the theme of Power – Participation – Representation.

Dr. Claudia Lücking-Michel, member of the Central Committee of German Catholics and chair of the Synodal Forum, will speak about the relationship between Women, Power and the Church and about the basic requirements of any Church reform.

Anne Soupa, writer, theologian and president of the French group Comité de la Jupe had applied for the post of Bishop of Lyon in 2020. When asked: “What do you want to achieve with your candidacy?” she once replied: “I expect the Church to become aware of the failings and the mismanagement. Women are the big losers in the Church today. The situation of women in the Church is scandalous. I want women to become more aware and that they ask: why not me? Why can’t I become a bishop?”

Dr. Martha Heizer from ‘We are Church Austria’ will speak about the International Church Reform Network, a network of priestly and reform movements. She will share her experiences on their work on the Charter of Fundamental Rights in the Church. International Church Reform network – priest and reform-movements working together (icrn.info)

The presentations and the discussions will again be translated into different languages.

In breakout rooms, but also via Mentimeter, we want to reflect with participants from all over the world our own experiences, take up suggestions from other regions and, above all, develop new approaches and make demands for equal participation.

Please note that when registering, you should also indicate a language for the breakout rooms.

We will again collect the responses and demands from this listening session, publish them on our website and hand them over to the Synod Office in Rome in September 2022, so that they can be included into the synodal process for Synod 2023.

We look forward to your participation.
