The Catholic Women’s Council is pleased to invite you to the event we are organizing to celebrate Women’s Day 2023.

While the synodal process is heading forward to the first worldwide Assembly in Rome 2023 we would like to discuss the ongoing process with an esteemed panel of speakers.
Our theme will be: Is the Process of Synodality Expanding or Shrinking the Tent for Women?
Dr. Philomena Mwaura (Kenya, Africa): She is a member of the CWC Executive Committee and has contributed to the drafting of the Preparatory Document (DCS) for the continental phase of the Synod on Synodality. As a member of the Working Group for the Continental Phase – Africa, she is a delegate for the Continental Assembly of the Synod of Africa in Addis Ababa. Her focus is on the discussions and reflections on the DCS in relation to the needs and challenges of the church in Africa; what it means to be church in Africa in the process of building a synodal church.
Dr. Elissa Roper (Sydney, Australia): In Dr Elissa Roper’s vocation as a theologian, she specialises in synodality in the Catholic Church; she is passionate about renewing the Catholic Church’s understanding of the People of God. Recently, she provided a theological reflection on “Becoming a more synodal Church” for the Assembly of the Federation of Catholic Bishops Conferences in Oceania. She also works towards understanding and healing in the area of clerical abuse.
Dr. Rafael Luciani (S.America/Boston USA): Dr. Luciani is a professor at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas (Venezuela) and at the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry in Boston (USA). He is the theological advisor to the Latin American Bishops’ Conference CELAM, the Latin American Confederation of Religious CLAR and the Theological Commission of the General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops.

The various short keynote speeches will be followed by a discussion in which we would like to invite you to participate. Questions on the topic can be sent in advance to info@catholicwomenscouncil.org
The key note speeches and the program will be in English and translations will be available for the Spanish, Italian, French & German speaking people.
Please note that we will translate the discussion contributions from the chat on a voluntary basis. We therefore ask you to post your question in English as far as possible.
